Secure checkout
Checkout shows the payment options available for your order and keeps a clear record for you and the seller. Online payments are processed securely. Participating Pro sellers can also offer Pay at Pickup: you place the order online and pay the seller directly with cash or check when you collect it. Follow the payment instructions shown on your order.
Seller verification
Every seller account requires submission of state cottage food registration documentation. Accounts without valid registration are not approved. Sellers may not list products until verification is complete.
Admin review
Applications are reviewed by a real person on our team, not an automated system. We confirm that registration documentation matches the seller's business information before granting approval.
No anonymous listings
Sellers must provide a verified business name, city, and state. There are no anonymous or pseudonymous seller accounts. Buyers can see who they are buying from before placing an order.
Fulfillment and compliance
Pickup is the standard fulfillment method on LocalCottageFoods.com. Some sellers also offer optional local delivery within a radius they set. Sellers are responsible for ensuring their fulfillment method complies with their state's cottage food laws. Requirements vary by state.
