How Seller Verification Works on Local Cottage Foods

Verification is how Local Cottage Foods confirms sellers are who they say they are, which builds buyer trust. You submit your business details (and any registration the form asks for), a real person reviews it in about 1–3 business days, and once approved your storefront goes live, your products can publish, and you earn a verification badge.

Verification is the single most important step to going live — and a big part of why buyers feel safe ordering from someone they've never met. Here's exactly how it works.

What you submit

From your seller profile, you open the verification form and provide your business details — your legal name, business name, and business type, plus any registration the form asks for. You can optionally attach supporting documents and a note for context. Then you submit it for review.

How review works

  • Unverified — you haven't submitted yet
  • Pending — submitted and waiting on review (typically 1–3 business days)
  • Verified — approved; your storefront and eligible products go live
  • Rejected — fix the issue and resubmit

Verification is reviewed by a real person. Submitting complete details and any requested documents up front is the fastest path to approval.

What verification unlocks

Once verified, your storefront becomes publicly visible, products set to 'publish once I'm verified' go live automatically, and a verification badge appears on your shop. That badge is a trust signal buyers look for — learn more on our safety page and in building trust before your first sale.

Frequently asked questions

Is verification required to sell?

Yes. Your storefront and products stay private until you're verified, so verification is the gate to going live. It's reviewed by a real person, not an automated check.

How long does verification take?

Typically 1–3 business days after you submit. Your status moves from pending to verified once it's approved, and any products you set to 'publish once I'm verified' go live automatically.

What if my application is rejected?

You can fix the issue and resubmit. Adding the requested details and supporting documents up front makes approval faster.
