How to Set Up Your Local Cottage Foods Seller Account

Becoming a seller starts at the For Sellers page and a short guided setup with five steps — profile, brand, products, pickup, and finish. Your storefront goes live once you're verified and have at least one product, a pickup location, and a pickup schedule. Accepting orders also needs a payment method ready. The setup is resumable, so you can finish it now or in pieces.

Setting up to sell on Local Cottage Foods is a guided process, not a blank page. This walkthrough shows the real steps, what's required to go live, and what's optional so you can launch with confidence.

Start on the For Sellers page

Head to For Sellers and start selling. If you're new, you'll create an account; if you already shop on Local Cottage Foods, you can convert your buyer account to a seller account. Either way you land in your seller dashboard, where a guided setup opens automatically.

The five-step guided setup

  1. Profile — your name, an optional business/storefront name, and your ZIP for local discovery
  2. Brand — an optional logo and a storefront accent color
  3. Products — add your first item or two (you can choose 'publish once I'm verified')
  4. Pickup — add a pickup location and a weekly pickup window
  5. Finish — a summary with your two unlock tasks: verification and payments

Checked 'publish once I'm verified' on a product? It goes live automatically the moment your verification is approved — no need to come back and flip it on.

What it takes to go live

Your storefront becomes publicly visible once four things are true: you're verified, and you have at least one product, one pickup location, and one pickup schedule. Until you're verified, your storefront and products stay private.

What it takes to accept orders

Being live means buyers can find and message you. To take actual orders you also need a payment method ready: secure card checkout, or — on a Pro plan — Pay at Pickup. See online checkout vs. pay at pickup for the trade-offs and plans and fees for what each plan includes.

Do it in any order

You don't have to do everything at once. Your dashboard keeps a setup checklist of what's still required, and you can reopen the guided setup anytime. Next, dig into creating your first product listing and setting up your storefront, or grab the full launch checklist.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to set up a seller account?

The guided setup itself takes about 20–30 minutes. The one part you don't control is verification review, which is done by a real person and typically takes 1–3 business days before your storefront can go live.

Do I have to finish everything in one sitting?

No. The guided setup is resumable — you can skip steps and come back. Your dashboard shows a setup checklist with what's still required to go live, so you can finish in pieces.
